I Love the Mail

My Jimmy Beans Wool stuff came today and I am too excited for words so I will be keeping it short. I am making the Bobbi Bear for Julia's first birthday in pink with a black nose ( I think I may change the nose and eyes to brown once I see the bear finished). I am finished one thrummed mitt and one of Rick's socks (are we seeing a pattern).
I am on a very tight deadline for all of these items....oh my god I am getting stressed out just thinking about it.
First thing I must finish the book for my book club meeting on Friday.....Joy Fielding, See Jane Run.......everyone in the group has just whipped through the book and I am going so SLOWLY. I hope the damn book picks up or I will be seriously unprepared for the meeting.

A little knitting and a lot of RUBY

These thrummed mitts are going to be the death of me. I have been working on them for over a month and still I haven't warmed up to them. I despise touching the roving...as disgusting as it sounds it keeps getting caught on my thumbs (you might think to yourself...Krista put some damn cream on your hands....believe me I moisturize all the time). I just about died putting my hands in them to take this picture. Considering the trauma I experiencing just looking at them I have made quite a bit of progress (keep in mind that I still have to do the second mitt).
On to other knitting news..... I have put in the order for the Blue Sky Alpaca Bobbi Bear pattern from Jimmy Beans Wool
I also put in an order for some fancy needles (I am such a geek). I hope that everything arrives soon because I want to get it done for Julia's birthday in early March (and I have been really slow with finishing projects.....I still have one Christmas gift to finish up).

NOW ONTO RUBY...I seem to be getting comments focused on my adorable Ruby with some knitting comments tacked onto the end. So here is a little pictorial of how Ruby and I spent our day today (well at least the last hour).

"why do you have all of my new clothes out and the camera in your hand"

"OH NO...why do you have to keep bothering me.....why can't i just be by myself "

Here is Ruby's new collar... I got this picture as she was bolting away from me

Here is Ruby in her new houndstooth coat taking a little drink...she really hates the coat....and to tell you the truth neither Sri or I have anything fancy enough to wear when we take her out in it. The buckle is just the cutest thing ever.

Here is the princess just chillin, and again , trying to get away from me. Now that I have really proved what a complete geek I am (and that I have too much time on my hands) I am going to finish the thumb on the mitt.
P.S. THanks Linda for the comments.... at least I know one person is reading

Healthy or just plain crazy

This is the third time I have written this post because there are some major problems with blogger. The first time I wrote a lot of stuff with detail, the second time it was more to the point and now I am just going to put in the bare bones.

Typical meal on my modified macro diet that I have really modified to include chips and Roma pizza with the odd sea vegetable and umemboshi plum thrown in.

Ruby is feeling much better but is taking quite an attitude with me as you can see. I always imagine she is saying "Get the hell away from me so I can go eat twigs, rocks, dirt and rotten tomatos in private"

Thank you Jacqueline for the lovely Ruby slipper key chain.... I was really excited to see it dangle out of my mailbox at work on Friday night.

Here are the new stairs that the Brown Brothers built for us because the other ones were rotting. They showed us the old wood and I was really surprised that I hadnt gone right through them because I really stomp up and down the stairs and they were really rotten.

Knitting...I am obsessed with Bobbi Bear from Blue sky alpaca. I am going to make one for Julia and Ethan for their birthdays if I can get my hands on one of the patterns. THey are sold out everywhere. I also need Nikki to get home from work so that I can figure out the gauge and needle size that I will need...she is good at that.

Thrummed mitts are coming along but I am not sure that I like the feel of the roving on my dry winter hands. I will probably give them away ...that is a much better alternative to having a spazz out everytime I put them on. I also worry that they are going to cause my hands to sweat and therefore stink causing the curse of the hockey glove hand smell.

After 3 posts and a lot of knitting calculations I am exhausted and will be joining ruby in a mid afternoon nap.

Less talk and more action

I dont know why I have called this a knitting blog because since I started it I really haven't done much knitting. I have done a lot of thinking about knitting but I really have not put any plans into action. Here is a list of things I want to get done in order of importance
1) my thrummed mitts
2) some sort of gift for my mom (has to be quick because her birthday is Feb 19)
3) the knitted tea set
4) a shawl collar sweater from interweave knits for Nikki (Nikki if you are reading this then please disregard)
5) a new sweater for Quinci... the one I made her for Christmas is way too short
Well enough talking and more action.... first i think I'll have a snack.
